Background
Rationale
Study context and regional significance.
CT image guidance has become an increasingly visible adjunct in functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), particularly in anatomically complex disease, revision cases, and higher-risk skull base work.
Across a regional training network, access to this technology and the way it is incorporated into routine practice can vary substantially between hospitals. Those differences matter for patient pathways, service planning, and trainee exposure.
INTENT-01 is designed as the collaborative's first North London project. It will map the current regional landscape, describe patterns of use, and capture how trainees experience access to navigation-enabled FESS in day-to-day practice.
Why this matters
- Establishes a baseline picture of regional practice.
- Identifies variation in equipment access, theatre workflows, and training exposure.
- Creates a platform for future quality-improvement work and collaborative publications.
